Our breeding program

We are a small family located along the beautiful Blue Mountains in Central Pennsylvania. I had been raising Anatolian Shepherds for some time before deciding to take the leap and start my own breeding program. There was a lot of thought over the years put into making the final decision to breed these magnificent dogs. I have fallen so much in love with Anatolians and everything about them that I want to help carry on this breed by breeding healthy and sound dogs with proper temperaments, form and function while keeping their true working instincts.

I am going to warn potential buyers right now that when you decide to purchase an Anatolian from me, you will not only be getting a dog but you will also be getting a human family member and friend. I plan to remain in regular contact with any person who receives an Anatolian from me and would like the buyer to do the same with me. That's one major thing I ask of anyone wanting to get a dog from us here at Mystic Anatolians. We do have an application process that you will need to complete before being considered for one of our dogs. You may feel like you are signing away your life with our contract and application but it's only for the dog's best interest and to help ensure that the dog will be going to a proper home where it will be cared for and loved. We care about the dogs that we will be breeding and bringing into this world and only want the best for them. These dogs are not just dogs here at Mystic Anatolians, they are a part of my family and we expect all Anatolians that we have helped bring into this world and into your life to not be treated as just a dog but to be treated like a part of your family.

We will breed litters occasionally and have puppies and possibly some adults available from time to time. All potential breeding dogs are health tested and CHIC certified before being considered to be a part of our breeding program. All puppies and dogs will be microchipped, come with health certification, a health guarantee, pedigree and additional information. All puppies will be born and raised inside of the house. The pups will be handled from the time they are born. They will be exposed to different sights, sounds, scents, surfaces, feels, etc. At around the age of 4-5 weeks old the pups will be taken outside and begin to be exposed to and introduced to livestock. While the pups are growing they will be started with some basic training and some basic leash training. They will begin getting socialized and begin to start getting used to basic grooming and handling. The pups will have their first baths before going to their new homes. We will also be taking them for short rides in the vehicle so they are able to get used to the motion of vehicles and get adapted to riding in vehicles for trips to the vet or wherever else you decide to take your Anatolian. All Anatolians from Mystic Anatolians will come with full lifetime breeder support. We will be here to answer any questions, concerns, etc. that you may have regarding you Anatolian or even just be here to talk or share stories. If a time comes that you can no longer keep your Anatolian that you received from us, we will take it back at any point in it's life. Your Anatolian will be loved from the minute it is born and throughout it's lifetime by us and will always have a home here if ever needed.

We hope that you have taken your time to do your research and decide if this is the right breed for you before you decide to acquire one. It was the best decision I have ever made but they are not for everyone, so please take your time and make the right decision for you/your family/your lifestyle and most importantly the dog. If you would feel comfortable getting a dog from us, please read over the following information on this page and contact us.

What kinds of homes do you sell your Anatolian Shepherd puppies to?

Our puppies will be available to both working homes and some pet homes. We would also be proud to have some of our puppies go off into show homes.

Can I breed my Anatolian Shepherd?

Most of our puppies will be sold under a spay/neuter contract with a limited registration. Only approved homes will be eligible to breed their dog.

What are your requirements for puppy buyers?

Here at Mystic Anatolians, these dogs are not just dogs. They are family! We expect our puppy buyers to love, cherish and treasure their Anatolian Shepherd Dog for it's entire life. You will need to properly care for, train and give this dog proper health care. We will expect you to give this dog the best life possible for it's entire lifetime. We do require that our puppy buyers remain in contact with us throughout the dogs lifetime and send updates and pictures. We care about the puppies that we are bringing into this world and would like to know how they are doing from time to time. If you feel that you would be a proper home for one of our dogs, please fill out an application.

Do you have any puppies available? If not, when will you have puppies available?

We will have puppies available occasionally. For available puppies or information on upcoming litters, please visit our Litters page.

How much does a puppy cost?

Prices will vary depending on if you are purchasing a puppy on a spay/neuter contract or one that will remain intact for breeding/show purposes.

Do the puppies come with a health guarantee?

Yes. All puppies will come with a health guarantee.

Will my Anatolian Shepherd Dog be AKC registered?

We will register the litter with the AKC and will register your pup for you once you provide us with the registered name that you would like to use. You will be mailed the official registration once AKC processes it.

Will my Anatolian Shepherd Dog be UKC registered?

We will register the litter with the UKC and will register your pup for you once you provide us with the registered name that you would like to use. You will be mailed the official registration once UKC processes it.

Can I name my own puppy?

Yes. Choosing a name for a puppy is a very important thing and a major decision. The dog will need to live with the name and get to know their name. To me, choosing a name for a new puppy is always a fun time. I do not want to take that away from anyone and give everyone a chance to name their own puppy that they will be living with. We do require that the registered name begin with "Mystic's" followed by the name that the new owner will choose. We do ask that you be creative, tasteful and respectful when choosing the official registered name. Breeder will need to approve the chosen registered names. You can use any call name that you would like but please be respectful of the dog when choosing a call name that the dog will be called by on a daily basis. As soon as you know the call name, please notify us so we can start calling the puppy by that name and it can start learning it's name as soon as possible.

Will my puppy be microchipped?

Yes. Your puppy will be microchipped. The microchip will be registered under the breeder's name as a safety precaution for the dog. You will need to keep us informed of any address, phone number or contact information changes so we can contact you in the case of an emergency. You will be receiving the microchip information along with the puppy.

How do I purchase a puppy from you?

If you feel that an Anatolian is the right breed for you and you would like to bring one into your family, you will need to fill out our Puppy Application. We will also talk to you and decide if we feel you are the right home for one of our puppies. If we decide you are able to get a puppy from us, you will be asked to send a deposit to us along with our signed Breeder Guarantee/Sales Contract to hold your place on our waiting list. You will be required to pay for the puppy in full before it leaves our premises.

Why do I need to fill out a puppy application?

This is our way of initially finding out if you would be an acceptable home for one of our puppies. We want the best for our puppies that we breed and have expectations that we would like met. We want to know about you/your family, your home/property, the thought you have put into acquiring one of our puppies, the living situation that one of our puppies would be living in, the care you plan on providing and most of all to see if we would feel comfortable with you having one of our puppies. All applicants will be thoroughly scanned before we place a puppy with you.

What is a waiting list?

The waiting list is to ensure that we have available homes for puppies from an upcoming litter. Your name will go on the list once the application has been accepted. Once your application is accepted, your deposit will be required. The sooner the deposit is received, the better chance you have of getting a puppy from a specific breeding.

Why do I need to send a deposit?

Your deposit is to ensure that you are serious about acquiring one of our puppies. This deposit will place you on our waiting list for current or future puppies. We will only breed a planned litter depending on the number of deposits that have been made. We will not breed a planned litter if not enough homes are available for the upcoming puppies.

Will my deposit be refundable?

Your deposit is non refundable. Your deposit will only be refunded if there is no puppy available for you.

What if I decide that I don't want a puppy after I have sent my deposit?

Your deposit will not be refunded. It will only be refunded as stated above.

How do I pay for my puppy?

All payments must be made in the forms of a Cashier's Check or Money Order.

When do I pay for my puppy?

You will need to send the deposit along with the signed Sales Contract once you are approved for one of our puppies in order to be placed on our waiting list. You will not be required to send payment for the puppy until it has been born. Payments should be made no later than 9 weeks of age. If you do not make the final payment by the time the puppy reaches 9 weeks of age, we will assume that you are no longer interested and you will not receive a puppy. Your deposit will not be refunded. The puppy will be made available to the next home on our waiting list. Puppies will not leave our premises until full payment has been made.

Can I pick out my own puppy?

Picks are according to what you are looking for (Family Companion/Livestock Guardian on a spay/neuter contract or Family Companion/Livestock Guardian for breeding or show). There is no first in line. We will be evaluating puppies as they grow and working with you to help get you one that will meet what you are looking for.

At what age can my Anatolian puppy come home?

Puppies will be ready to go home between the ages of 9-12 weeks old once they have had their health checks and first round of immunizations. We will not, under any circumstances, allow a puppy to leave before the age of 8 weeks old.

Do you have any older puppies or dogs available?

There could be times when older puppies or dogs are available. Look at the Available tab on this site to find out if any are available at this time. This tab can be found on our Litters Page. Prices of these dogs will vary depending on age, training and quality.

If I purchase a puppy from you, what is the easiest way to get my puppy?

We do prefer that all new puppy owners pick up their puppy in person. We do however understand that sometimes it's not always possible to pick up the puppy in person. We do offer shipping to those who cannot pick up their new puppy. It will be the buyers responsibility to cover all shipping costs. The shipping costs will be in addition to the purchase price of the puppy. The shipping costs include shipping, crate, collar/leash and food/water bowls. Older puppies and dogs that may be available at times must be picked up in person. We strongly urge all prospective buyers to pick up their puppies/dogs in person.

What if I cannot keep or no longer want my Anatolian Shepherd Dog?

If the time arises that you cannot keep or no longer want your Anatolian Shepherd for any reason, you will be required to give the dog back to us. At that time, you will be required to sign a Surrender Contract stating that you are surrendering all ownership rights back to us and that you are forgoing all rights of ownership to said dog. Any further questions or situations will be discussed on an individual basis.
